Mahood Lake flanks the southwestern side of Wells Gray. The popular destination lake can be found via the Mahood Lake Road east of Canim Lake. There is an established campground available at the end of this road, complete with 34 campsites, picnic tables and outhouses, a playground for children as well as a maintained boat launch. For the more adventurous, there are also three boat only access campsites available on the lake. From the mouth of the Mahood River, at the eastern end of the lake, a trail leads to the impressive Sylvia Falls. From the lakeshore, it is about a 2 km (1.2 mi) hike along the river to the falls.
