Well, not literally teddy bears, but the sun is out and a couple of our familiar black bears have been spotted around the resort, feasting on the grass. (Unlike a notorious deer who has upgraded from the grass and instead taken a liking for our newly planted flowers, and takes it upon herself to make them her dinner most nights.) She was caught in the act earlier this week, but pranced into the forest as soon as she spotted us, gone without a trace. Clever girl.

The hummingbirds are acting as a delightful dinner show for our guests in the restaurant in the evenings, as they go crazy for our delicious homemade sugar water. However, though these little birds are beautiful, they do not enjoy sharing food. We learned this after watching a mini battle take place between two little hummingbirds over who got to use the water bottle, which resulted in one chasing the other into the trees, both chirping what we can only assume to be obscenities at each other. Clearly, neither of them noticed the fact that we had two sugar water bottles up…
